FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What’s your primary style? Posed and formal, relaxed, photojournalistic, creative, artistic, candid, traditional?

I’m a bit of everything!  I consider myself a lifestyle, natural light photographer and I love to capture that candid moment between you and your fiance, or you and your family.

What is Lifestyle Photography?

It’s about documenting personhood. It celebrates  interests, connection, personality, sentiment and the natural pieces of life. It’s genuine photojournalism of children and families in the honest simple moments of growing and experiencing life together. It’s about the tight trusting grasp of a child’s little hands. The laughter brought on by a pillow fight. The pleading eyes that lead you to do anything for your kids.

When is Lifestyle Photography best used?

Lifestyle is perfect for photographing people who prefer to show the reality of their lives. It’s for people who would easily trade perfectly posed photo for one that tells a story.

What kind of input can we have on the direction of the shots? Can we give you a shot list to work from?

I love getting neat ideas and meshing my talent with them! But you don’t need to sit down and create a list, as that is exactly why you’re hiring me. One easy way to let me know what type of shots you’d like is actually sending me links to some of your favourites! It gives me a great idea of what you’d like to see and helps out immensely to make sure you get what you’re looking for.

Do you use an assistant or a second shooter on weddings?

Yes, I will be working with an assistant or a second shooter. I highly recommend a second shooter. Two heads are always better than one and among other things having a second shooter on your wedding day always gives you loads of extra shots that I wouldn’t have been able to capture on my own. You get to meet her on engagement session.

How long until I have my photo’s?

It honestly depends on how busy I am and the time of year. If I am in the heat of wedding season, it can take up to five weeks. If your wedding falls under the off season, I’m usually finished within two weeks of your big day.
Family/Maternity/Newborn – typically two weeks after we meet.

How many photos do we get?

I believe in quality over quantity and telling your story honestly according to how your day went. So naturally this changes with each wedding depending on a large number of factors, but typically 300-500. For Lifestyle sessions 30-50.
